Visit from Norway interested in digitalized vocational education

Together with the school management in the carpentry workshop of RBB Waren

Professor Birger Brevik of Oslo Metropolitan University focuses on the ways in which digital learning can be applied within vocational education. With a background in technical vocational training and extensive experience as a teacher in vocational schools, he instructs teachers in the use of digitized teaching and learning formats. Professor Brevik visited Professor Franz Kaiser at the Institute of Vocational Education at the University of Rostock from October 30 to November 4. Prof. Kaiser had previously researched vocational education structures in Oslo and South Norway for several months, visiting companies, vocational schools, and research seminars. This collaboration was part of VETteach, a joint EU project aimed at educating vocational teachers. Prof. Brevik's stay, also funded by Erasmus, included visits to simulators in the maritime branch of Wismar University in Warnemünde with Professor Rabe, as well as an exploration of digital learning facilities at RBB Müritz in Waren with the school management. In addition to exchanging ideas with researchers in vocational and elementary education, the Norwegian professor led an international master's seminar, delivering a lecture on the vocational education system and the path to vocational teacher training in Norway. An EU cooperation agreement was signed between the two institutions and universities, with the aim of encouraging further such exchanges.
